CEDAR CREST FARM IN VIRGINIA

In September, 2011 we expanded into a southern base for Cedar Crest Farm, located at the former thoroughbred breeding complex, Chapel Spring, in beautiful Free Union, Virginia.  Situated on 1,500 acres in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the traditional white-brick barn houses sixteen 14’ x 14’ stalls.  There is ample turn-out in spacious well-fenced paddocks, many with clusters of ancient shade trees and  run-in sheds.

There are miles of trails for hacking and conditioning and access to a ring for training.  An on-site arena and cross-country course are amongst future plans for the property.  Ideally positioned at the center of a triangle linking the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington; Commonwealth Park the home of HITS, Culpeper and the Deep Run Hunt Club show-grounds in Richmond, the farm is an excellent base for jumpers and eventers.  It is also close to the Farmington Hunt kennels with numerous other great Virginia hunts within easy reach.

The vibrant city of Charlottesville is just 20 minutes from the farm and, as the home of the historic University of Virginia, it offers a wealth of cultural and gastronomic attractions as well as a wide range of accommodation options.  Visitors to Cedar Crest Farm can combine the chance to ride in unrivalled scenery with the opportunity to visit Monticello the home of Thomas Jefferson, tour the university grounds and shop in the historic downtown mall.  Bring your horse and family on vacation and enjoy the best of country living in the heart of Virginia.
